Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh has just pulled off what can only be described as the “heist of the century;” this venerable support will once again return to the LPL and compete for Weibo Gaming (formerly known as Suning). His one-year stint in LCS, therefore, has netted him millions upon millions of dollars and, one could argue, didn’t affect his stock in any negative way.
You gotta give it to the guy: he made the perfect series of career moves and is now bearing the fruits of his labor. He didn’t exactly blow anyone’s mind during his time with TSM, but that certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying — he simply didn’t mesh all that well with the way the boys in black and white wanted to play the game. He’s an aggressive playmaker at heart, whereas TSM gravitated towards a more reserved style of play, especially early on.
Fortunately, it was both an important learning experience and a very lucrative one as well. A win-win, if you will.
Needless to say, Weibo’s 2022 roster is absolutely stacked: Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, Lê “SofM” Quang Duy, Xiang “Angel” Tao, Tang “huanfeng” Huan-Feng, and SwordArt have all the right tools and weapons to challenge for a spot at the top. Granted, the LPL will have many such stacked line-ups but the point still stands.
How high they’ll be able to soar still remains to be seen, but we’re intrigued beyond measure to see what SwordArt and his talented teammates will be able to accomplish in the most competitive region the world of LoL has to offer.
All in all, LPL fans will be treated to an absolute spectacle come 2022! Edward Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, LNG Esports, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming, and Weibo Gaming all look mighty powerful so making any kind of prediction this early on would be a fool’s errand. Be that as it may, one thing’s for certain: watching the LPL will be an absolute must!
